Summer Camp 2012
Why choose CA&NC Summer Camps? Learning activities take place in an outdoor setting. Campers learn important outdoor skills. Smaller camper to counselor ratio. Registration Registration begins March 5th for CA&NC Members and March 19th for Non-members. Call to reserve your camper's spot. You may pay at that time with a credit card, or mail a check within the next two weeks. Your space is not guaranteed until payment is received. Registration forms will be sent to you and must be completed and returned to us before your child is fully enrolled in camp. Two weeks before camp begins, you will receive a list of camp activities and items to bring to camp. If camps are full when you call to reserve your space, you have the option to be put on a waiting list. If you cancel more than two weeks before camp, you will receive an 85% refund. No refund will be given to those canceling less than two weeks before the first day of the camp session. Please call (423) 821-1160 ext. 112 to reserve your child's spot. Treehouse Club Camp Treehouse Club campers will explore nature through exciting art projects and nature activities. Each day will begin in CA&NC’s George S. Bryan Discovery Forest Treehouse, followed by activities, crafts, and games with a daily nature theme!
Wolf Pack Camp Wolf Pack campers will help prepare food for the nature center’s animal ambassadors and then watch them eat it, go on a canoe trip, visit the bamboo forest, and wallow in a mud pit. They will spend a day experiencing what it’s like to be a Native American child of long ago. Campers will enjoy five, fun-filled days of nature games, activities and crafts. Junior Naturalist Camp Junior Naturalist campers will experience first hand what it’s like to be a wild animal in an exciting predator / prey simulation game. They will also go canoeing and hike down Lookout Mountain. Campers will learn the tools of the trade practiced by great naturalists throughout history. Campers will participate in a full range of activities designed to bring natural history into their lives through science, crafts, live animal demonstrations, and of course, play!
Adventure Camp Canoe beautiful Lookout Creek, go hiking to the base of the falls at the Lula Lake Land Trust, go on a wild cave tour at Raccoon Mt. Caverns, and discover the world of nocturnal animals! These are just a few of the activities that we have planned for Adventure Camp. We will also spend the night Thursday night at the nature center. There will be a campfire, fishing, storytelling and a nocturnal predator/prey game. Counselors in Training CA&NC’s Counselors in Training program provides leadership opportunities for teenagers to gain experience helping in the day to day operation of the summer camps.
