DECEMBER
Fairy Houses Date: Dec. 14 Time: TBACost: TBA Inspired by the book, Fairy Houses by Tracy Kane, we recently held our first Fairy House Club where participants built homes for our fairy friends. Participants received a purse of fairy gold to purchase building and decrating materials in the fairy market place. Builders also explored the Arboretum grounds for just the right site, collecting Nature's "cast offs" along the way. (Nothing live is ever picked to build a fairy house. The fairies wouldn't like that!) This is a charming family activity for any age! Whether a seasoned outdoorsman or someone wanting to spend more time connecting with Nature, this is a great way to spend some quality time!

Trail Running Workshop
Date: November 16 Time: 10 a.m. Cost: Free Have you been watching all the trail running activity around Chattanooga and have been thinking about learning more about trail running? Maybe you have done a mud run or some urban trail running and now you are thinking about taking that into the woods. The workshop will be lead by Randy and Kris Whorton. Both are the original founders of Wild Trails and have been running on trails all over the planet for over 30 years. There is no cost. The workshop will last for about an hour and then we all will go (not required) for an easy trail run. Well, we have just the program for you. Wild Trails will be hosting a series of beginner trail running workshops. This first will be held on Nov 16 at 10:00 AM at the Chattanooga Nature Center and Arboretum. This is not a training workshop, there will be no goal setting, race or any attention focused on your running style or form. The idea is to introduce you to this activity. To hopefully break some of the myths about nature and the wilderness that exist that may have kept you from venturing out into the woods and introduce you to some of the gear and techniques that will allow you to be more confident to take you onto the trails on your own. Topics that will be covered in the workshop will include:Safety, clothing, shoes basics, nutrition and hydration, dangers (real and perceived), trails (where to find them and how to avoid getting lost), group runs and races
Rumble in the Riding Date: Nov. 23 Time: Noon to 2 p.m. Pre-registration required. For more information click the link above.
