Wildlife Wanderland
Our Wildlife Wanderland is truly a natural area with enclosures housing native wildlife which have been impacted by humans in one way or another and cannot successfully return to the wild because of injury and/or lack of survival skills. Many of our visitors often remark how close the viewing opportunities are and what a unique experience it is to see animals up close that you normally see from a distance in the wild. This area has bark chip paths and lots of native vegetation. On your stroll, you will see birds of prey (raptors) and mammals. Our keystone animal is the federally endangered Red Wolf. We have been an integral part of the Red Wolf Species Survival Plan since 1996. You may get lucky and see all our Red Wolves and possibly hear them howl! Come explore the lives of these amazing animals and learn how you can help be a part of restoring this apex predator back into the wild. You can leave the Wanderland via two routes—on the boardwalk which winds through a seasonal wetland and passes the Paddler's Perch and George S. Bryan Discovery Forest Treehouse, or you can take the Liz Aplin Trail which leads to the parking lot. Wildlife Viewing Tips
